EDUCATING THE HORSE WHILE ENLIGHTENING THE RIDER
| Mark Russell likes to share his enthusiasm for the horse with others who also believe horses are intelligent, responsive beings who love to please within a trusting relationship. It is essential to maintain this philosophy when educating the horse as the creation of lightness is dependent on it. It is the rider's responsibility to speak softly, attend to and listen to the horse's thoughts, emotions, physical language and abilities. When the rider keeps the horse's perspective at the forefront, a strong alliance emerges, creating a scenario in which the rider can depend on their horse to respond thoughtfully, rather than react defensively. This is the foundation for beginning to educate the horse. |  |
| While supporting relaxation, a series of gymnatizing excercises which teach suppling and balance will create the lightness which eludes so many riders. The observer will see an elegance of presentation and the rider will experience eloquence of communication: soft, subtle, and meaningful for both horse and rider. |  |
| Mark Russell offers clinics, consultations, lessons, video lessons, and training for all disciplines and styles of riding. He starts young horses, helps horses with behavior and performance problems, and finishes horses to flying changes, piaffe, passage, and further. He develops Western and English pleasure horses, performance horses, and dressage horses for the academic rider. |  |
